Google Proven Guilty, Largest Fine Throughout History Awaits
KOMPAS.COM – Google fined 85 million US dollars (approximately Rp 1.2 trillion) by the state court of Arizona, United States of America because of illegally tracking user location.
The illegal intent here is Google, according to Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich, proved to be still collecting data about the location though the user has turned off the feature.
The Arizona state lawsuit began in 2020. at that time, Arizona court sues Google over illegal location tracking based on an investigative report by the Associated Press (AP) in 2018.
The report, which is accompanied by various data and evidence from users, claiming that Google is proven to be collecting location data user secretly without users permission.
Google of course had time to defend and say that This tracking of user data refers to legacy Google policies, which now claimed to have been replaced.
However, the company from Mountain View, California, USA could not evade, because the evidence that the court has concluded that Google was at fault.
Now, the Arizona courts lawsuit culminates in a verdict that Google is found guilty and must pay a fine around IDR 1.2 trillion. That said, this figure is the biggest fine that Google has paid for throughout history.
Regarding this court ruling, Google spokesman Jose Castaneda said it was relieved that the case in the Arizona area was over.

Even though the business with the state of Arizona is done, Google seems to be will still be haunted by demands from a number of states in the US.
The reason is, the state courts of Indiana, Texas, to Washington DC is reportedly suing Google in their respective regions.
Just like Arizona, these states demand that Google has collected data of users living in the region silently, even if the location tracking feature is turned off.
