Russian Submarine Fires Missile in Sea of Japan

TOKYO, KOMPAS.COM – Russian submarine fires deep cruise missile exercises in the Sea of Japan, Russias Defense Ministry said on Thursday (14/4/2022).
The AFP news agency reported that Russia fired a missile in the middle tensions with Japan over its support for Ukraine.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the two submarines in Russias far east are: Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Volkov fire Kalibr . cruise missiles from underwater to the target.

 

They also uploaded video footage of missiles coming out of the sea when the crew of the submarine simulates being hit by a missile attack.
Japan joins West in imposing tough sanctions against Russia, hosting several hundred displaced Ukrainians from war, and sending military aid non-lethal weapons.
Last Friday (8/4/2022), Japan announced new sanctions including ban on Russian coal, significant energy imports, as well as expulsion of eight Russian diplomats for war crimes in Ukraine.
Russia announced in March, due to Japans response to the conflict in Ukraine, they abandoned longstanding diplomatic efforts to achieve the peace treaty that officially ended World War II with Japan.
Those efforts were hampered by a dispute over the four islands that controlled by Russia, which the Japanese called the Northern Territory.
