From Tomorrow, Indonesian Passport Valid 10 Years
KOMPAS.COM – Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, October 12, 2022, Indonesian passports will be issued has a validity period of 10 years, from the previous only five years.
The application of the new passport validity period is based on Article 2A of the Regulation The Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia (Permenkumham) Number 18 of 2022, which promulgated in Jakarta on Thursday (29/9/2022).
Thank God the passport policy with a validity period of 10 years is over can be implemented starting October 12, 2022, said the Acting (Plt) Director General of Immigration Widodo Ekatjahjana in a statement written that Kompas.com received, Tuesday (11/10/2022).
TERMS
For information, the passport validity period of 10 years does not apply to passports issued before Permenkumham 18/2022 is implemented.
In Article 2A paragraph (2) of the Minister of Law and Human Rights 18/2022 it is stated that an ordinary passport (electronic and non-electronic) with a maximum validity period of 10 years is only given to Indonesian citizens who have reached the age of 17 (seventeen) years or already married.
In addition to these categories, passports are granted for a period of five years, said Widodo.
Especially for children with dual citizenship (ABG), passport validity period will also adjust to the time period until the child required to choose their nationality.
ALREADY DONE?
For example, if the age of the ABG is 18 years at the time of replacement passport, the validity period of the passport becomes three years, or until the child turned 21 years old.
The age of 21 years is the maximum limit for ABG to determine his nationality.
PASSPORT COSTS
The rules regarding the cost of Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) passport is currently still under discussion with the relevant stakeholders.
Even so, the public would still pay the same fees as previously, which was IDR 350,000 for a non-electronic ordinary passport and IDR 650,000 for an electronic ordinary passport.
