Hot Mud Bursts in Christmas Mandailing Haven’t Stopped, Getting into Rice Fields and Flowing into Rivers
MANDAILING NATAL, KOMPAS.COM- Hot mud bursts out of the one of the wells of PT SMGP Geothermal Project (Sorik Merapi Geothermal Power), has not stopped until Sunday (24/4/2022) afternoon.
As a result, the mud continues to flow and has entered the rice fields local people and rivers.
As of this afternoon, the mudflow has not stopped. And it has flowed to rice fields and rivers, said Mandailing Natal Police Chief AKBP HM Reza Chairul, Sunday.

The police chief explained that to solve the problem, PT SMGP is making a closing attempt using Barite with well capping system.
Information from PT SMGP, the process will last for two hours day, said the Chief of Police.
Previously, the wells in the geothermal project managed by PT Sorik Merapi Geothermal Power (SMGP) again released gas allegedly H2S (Hydrosulfide), Sunday (24/4/2022).
