JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – The 21st of Ramadan will be remembered as the most heinous event in the history of Islam. On those days, one of the best sons of Islam died, namely the fourth Caliph Ali bin Talib.
He was brutally murdered by a man named Ibn Muljam. it is a fluent Al-Quran and came from the Khawarij and claiming, he is the most correct himself about Islam.
Ali who was the first to convert to Islam, a friend of the Prophet, and his son-in-law was branded as an infidel and guilty.
He stabbed Ali bin Talib after the Fajr prayer on 17 Ramadan or 20 Ramadan historians differ on the timing of his stabbing and died in the 40th Hijri year or 661 AD.
Due to differences in religious political understanding which resulted in war Shiffin37 H/648 AD between Muawiyah and Ali related to leadership succession and the people, there arose a group called the Khawarij. Ibn Muljam is part of this group.
This group opposed both Ali and Muawiyah, and considered true self. Outside the group is wrong and infidel. he feels, group according to the Quran and other than them it is obligatory fought for having defiled Gods law.
Ibn Muljam was part of this Kharijite group and intended to killed both of them, both Ali bin Talib and Muawiyah.
