US Reportedly Suspends Alleged Sanctions on Vladimir Putin’s Girlfriend, Fearing Escalation

WASHINGTON, KOMPAS.TV – The United States (US) is reportedly still suspended sanctions planned to ensnare Alina Kabaeva, suspect lover of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The reason is that Washington is known to be worried about an escalation with Russia if Kabaeva is sanctioned.
According to the Wall Street Journal report, the sanctions against Kabaeva have been discussed jointly by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs US.
Sanction packages generally have to be approved by the Security Council first US National before being established.
The White House itself has imposed tough sanctions influential Russian individuals, including Putin himself.
However, when the sanctions against Kabaeva were about to be passed, Dewan US National Security reportedly blocked the decision.
We have prepared sanctions for a number of people who have not yet sanctioned. We are constantly thinking about when to impose sanctions thats for maximum impact, a US official said when asked regarding Kabaevas sanction plan.

Alina Kabaeva is a former Olympic champion in rhythmic gymnastics from home Russia. The woman, who is now 39 years old, has been widely rumored to be Putins mistress from decades ago.
Relations between Putin and Kabaeva are suspected to have existed since the singer the president is still married to Lyudmila Shkrebneva. Putin and Lyudmila divorced in 2014.
