East Sumba King’s Cemetery, The body was buried 3 years in the Funeral Home
KUPANG, KOMPAS.COM-Body of King Nggongi Umbu Yadar in the village Praimaditha, Karera District, East Sumba Regency, Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) who died on July 8, 2019 was finally buried on 7 October 2022.
In the tradition of the people of East Sumba, especially among the kings, funerals is important.
According to their belief, if a dead person is made a procession customary or respected, will give blessings to people who are still alive.

This funeral tradition is a sacred event that has been running hundreds of years and still preserved by the people of Sumba.
King Umbu Yadar who died three years ago has just been buried after going through a long series of traditional funeral processions for a king.
The traditional funeral procession was attended by thousands of people from Indonesia all over the island of Sumba as well as invited guests from outside.
Marking the start of the traditional funeral procession, a buffalo calf cut at the door of the tomb before the coffin is lifted.
After that the coffin that has been closed using a woven cloth Sumba was lifted out of the traditional house to the burial place by family representatives accompanied by traditional music.

The distance between the funeral home and the stone tomb where King Umbu Yadar is buried about 30 meters.

Before entering the grave, the corpse and the attendants surround tomb eight times.
Then two buffaloes, a horse, a cow and a big pig cut to be sacrificed in front of the traditional house as a symbol cleansing of sins.
