Hong Kong Cardinal Arrested, Accused of Violating Chinese National Security Law

HONG KONG, KOMPAS.COM – The police confirmed that one of the members most senior Catholic Church arrested in Hong Kong for violating Chinas national security law.
Cardinal Joseph Zen, 90, is one of four people who detained for being associated with an organization that is not currently function. This organization helps protesters in need finance.

Another figure arrested was Cantopop singer and actor Denise Ho, former legislator Margaret Ng, and academic Dr Hui Po Keung.
They were accused of colluding with foreign troops.
If found guilty, they could face life imprisonment life.

Hong Kong police told BBC the group was suspected ask foreign countries or organizations to impose sanctions against Hong Kong, thereby threatening Chinas national security.
Cardinal Zen fled from Shanghai to Hong Kong after the communists took over China 70 years ago. He is a former bishop Hong Kong.
He has long been a critic of the government in Beijing, speaking out for Catholics in mainland China and for more democracy in Hong Kong.
