Study: Fast Walking Affects Effects of Aging

KOMPAS.COM – Many findings show the benefits of walking for women body health.
Not only that. Fast walking or also called brisk walk considered capable of extending a persons life up to 16 years.
The findings were revealed by researchers at the University of Leicester who studied around 400,000 British adults from the UK Biobank.
They found a link between walking speed and the rate of aging individual.
Running fast will result in caps or telomere size –part the very end of the chromosome or the longer strand of DNA–.
Telomeres play an important role in maintaining the stability of DNA.
Researchers measure telomere length to calculate biological age participants, namely the age seen from the physical health condition or organs.
As a result, the longer the telomere size in an individual, the more the individual looks young if judged from his biological age.
It could be, the biological age of the individual is much different than chronological age (age determined by calculation calendar).
Researchers note that a higher walking speed makes individuals have a biological age of 16 years younger when entering the age of middle-aged.
