Experience Buying and Installing STB Polytron to Watch Digital TV
KOMPAS.COM – The government through the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) will soon migrate analog TV broadcasts to broadcast TV Digital (Analog Switch Off/ASO) first stage.
Starting April 30, Kominfo will turn off analog TV broadcasts on 56 broadcast areas spread over 166 regencies/cities in Indonesia. ASO will then be resumed in the second phase on August 25 and the third on November 2, 2022.
After the analog TV broadcast is turned off, the TV broadcast will later be switched to digital TV broadcasts. In order to continue to access TV broadcasts, ASO-affected communities need to check whether their TV already supports digital TV broadcasting or not.
If the TV doesnt support digital broadcasting yet, then they need to prepare TV that supports digital broadcasting. In addition to buying a new digital TV, users can use alternative ways to keep access digital broadcast, namely with the help of Set Top Box (STB).
Together with multiplexing providers, Kominfo has provided assistance Free STB specifically for the poor. As a result, society non-poor can make purchases of STB independently.
STB BUYING EXPERIENCE
In order to welcome phase-I ASO, KompasTekno tried the experience buy and use STB. To be able to get STB units, KompasTekno visited a number of electronics stores located in Pondok Ungu Permai residential area, North Bekasi.
A number of shops were observed to be closed because they were going home for Eid. Whereas several other shops that are still open claim to have run out of STB stock because already flooded with buyers.
