Erick Thohir to Water Pelita: Mistakes at Garuda Shouldn’t Be Repeated
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.COM – PT Pelita Air Services is said to be replacing PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk which is in debt and is involved corruption case.
Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said, Pelita Air as a subsidiary of PT Pertamina (Persero) is expected not to repeating the same mistakes as Garuda Indonesia.
Mistakes that have occurred elsewhere (Garuda Indonesia) are not can be repeated here, he said when he took off the inaugural flight Pelita Air, Thursday (28/4/2022).
DOMESTIC FLIGHTS
He even emphasized that if the directors or employees of Pelita Air in front of him someone made a mistake like Garuda Indonesia, he will take immediate action.
I dont hesitate if it happens again, I will report it directly, he said.
Therefore, he asked Pelita Air to be managed properly, transparent, and in accordance with good corporate governance .
Pelita Air is also asked to stay focused on working on flights domestic business in Indonesia because he believes in this sector Pelita Air will become a major airline.
This is an important task, why do we give birth to Pelita, Pelita must be become a new paradigm for the Indonesian aviation industry. The lamp must become part of the healthy paradigm of the aircraft industry too, he said.
TO VARIOUS CITIES
According to Erick, the business potential of domestic flights in Indonesia so high that the government wants a special Pelita Air to become a domestic airlines.
Lets look at the data before Covid-19, 72 percent of our tourism industry it is domestic, 28 percent are international tourists. This means There is tremendous potential that we SOEs dont have focus, he said.
Previously, Pelita Air officially served regular flights to Jakarta for the first time by serving the Jakarta route from Terminal III Airport Soekarno-Hatta, Tangerang to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali.
The inaugural regular flight took off at 09.20 WIB and arrived at 12.10 WITA and the second route with the opposite destination was Jakarta – Bali at 14.55 WITA and arrived at 15.45 WITA.
Currently, the new Pelita Air routes and flight schedules have frequency 1 time per day using Airbus A320-200 type aircraft.
