Papuan People’s Assembly Hopes the Indonesian Government to Apply Conflict Resolution Like Aceh – Tribun-papua.com

TRIBUN-PAPUA.COM – The Papuan Peoples Assembly (MRP) hopes that resolution of the protracted conflict in Papua by the government, using the Aceh mechanism.
The chairman of the MRP, Timothy Murib, said that the mechanism in question was: prioritizing a dialogue approach that is carried out sincerely, with to talk to local movement leaders.
The point is, not local elites.
Peace between the Indonesian government and the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) finally agreed through the Helsinki Accords, Finland, on 15 August 2005 at the same time ended the second decades of conflict party.

ARMED CONFLICT IN PAPUA RESOLVED
The MRP really appreciates RI for having done very concrete and fast steps to friends in Aceh, namely GAM who disagree with the state, by committing a very good dialogue mechanism, said Timothy in virtual discussion held by Public Virtue Institute , Thursday (14/4/2022).
MRP would like to express the opinion that in order to resolve the conflict or the problem of Papua, the state must implement a mechanism like friends in Aceh, namely through dialogue between Papua and Jakarta, and prominent figures which one needs dialogue, I think the state already knows, he explained.
Timothy thought, through dialogue, conflict resolution in Aceh actually achieved and the aspirations of independence can be muted.
After the dialogue was carried out by the Indonesian government with Aceh, did Free Aceh? I dont. Until now they are still raising Red White, still singing Indonesia Raya, said Timothy.
Why is this mechanism not implemented for Papua? Its an external mechanism what the state has ever done, he continued.
This way of dialogue has actually been voiced by activists for a long time human rights and intellectual circles, including the Institute of Sciences Indonesian Knowledge (LIPI).
